Haas op het Vrijthof
Luxury in a House full of Wonder The art nouveau villa that houses Haas op het Vrijthof was constructed with a great taste for materials in 1920. Initially the mansion served as the private residence of a local lady from the famous industrial Ragout family. A serene home away from home, Haas op het Vrijthof is situated on a quiet corner overlooking the main square and the UNESCO monuments of the St. Jan Church and the St. Servaas Basilica. The transformation of this house into a Luxury Guesthouse was a delicate process. We needed to bring contemporary life, modern travel standards, and functional aesthetics into place, while retaining the individuality and personality of the original building. Our villa is a piece of design in and of itself, with its own amazing character and style. For the interior our design focus is on functionality, based on vintage classics and typical Scandinavian furniture pieces. The result is a distinct place with three rooms and three suites – attentive to friendly details, filled with a wonderful collection of precious pieces of design and, last but not least, happy people! Guests of Haas op het Vrijthof can expect to arrive in a home away from home, with a butler like service. If for our guests travelling means collecting the unknown, our hospitality boils down to the creation of a journey of discovery for every visitor. The branding for Haas op het Vrijthof is a combination of our history and fresh modern lines. Looking at the ‘neck’ of the hare (haas) logo, its shape is based on gothic church windows. Also, a roof can be distinguished, which illustrates the simple fact that the guest stays in a ‘guesthouse’ in direct vicinity of the ancient churches of Maastricht. All this results in a successful concept that has shown strong review scores with an average of 9.4/ 10 on Booking.com over the last 5 years of operation. We are very proud to welcome guests everyday in this wonderful accommodation. A selection that adds to the experience In this house, guests feel they are not staying in a usual hotel. Rather, it is a place that makes them feel, and where they are threated as, being a part of something special. During their stay our guests are the inhabitants of the city, living on the Vrijthof. We supply them with the keys to see the real city and experience a place where they can feel at home. Our comfortable living room overlooking the square is where guests can work, enjoy breakfast, read a book, enjoy a cup off coffee or just sit down and wonder. Our breakfast is artisanal and personally made, and of course guest may indicate their preferences. We present our breakfast with food from regional producers underneath two charming glass bells – at any time of choice and wherever the guests want. May it be in the room, our living room, their private terrace or even our kitchen. Guests are free to sneak down to our cellar and open their own private wine shelf to taste a selection of wines from the region. In their suite or room they can wind down with a chilled bottle.
